Around 3:00am on a late night at another conference, I ran into Dan and Jared, the creators of Podcast Movement, in the lobby of the San Diego hotel. We chatted briefly about Ignite and how it may fit into the Podcast Movement schedule.
Six months have passed since that fateful evening, and I am excited to announce Ignite Podcast Movement!
What is Ignite?
Ignite is a speaking event where a series of speakers get on stage to share five minute talks. Each talk is called a “Spark” and consists of 20 slides on a 15 second auto advance. Think of it kind of like Ted Talks… on speed.
Here is an example of an Ignite talk from a recent event I put on at the annual FinCon conference when it took place in Charlotte, North Carolina. I’m the handsome guy introducing our Jennifer at the start of the video 🙂
Ignite events take place all over the world. I’ve spoken at Ignite Denver, Ignite FinCon, Ignite Chanukah, and sat in the audience for Ignite Boulder amongst others. Each Ignite is unique but the rules are always the same. Whether the speaker is running ahead or isn’t ready for the next slide, it’s coming in 15 seconds.
How you can get involved
Ignite Podcast Movement is a Democratic event. Every speaker is a Podcast Movement attendee (speakers leading their own solo speaking session are not eligible to speak at Ignite PM). Talks can be about podcasting and online business, but some of the best talks have nothing to do with our conference. If you have a podcast about competitive duck herding (it’s a thing!) and think the Ignite Podcast Movement audience would enjoy learning about the topic, you can throw your hat in the ring!
Anyone going to the conference can submit a topic, then the rest of the Podcast Movement attendees can vote for their favorite speakers and topics. The top speakers get to join me on the main stage at Podcast Movement on Tuesday night for their five minutes of fame!
If you want to submit a topic, you can do so right now!
I’m also looking for a few volunteers from the Podcast Movement to help out with a few odds and ends at the event. If you are awesome at photography, video (and are willing to use your own dSLR camera), or video editing, I may have a spot for you.
We are also looking for sponsors to help pay for drink tickets and other expenses. If this sounds like something your company may be interested in, and yes I’m talking to you Stamps.com, MailChimp, and Blue Apron, drop me a line to let me know.
Who am I?
Who is this mysterious “Eric Rosenberg” writing this announcement and organizing Ignite Podcast Movement? I’m glad you asked! I am a full-time professional freelance blogger and I have my own blog and podcast called Personal Profitability.
I’m also a public speaker and consultant. When I’m not near a keyboard or microphone, I like to spend my time flying small planes (I’m a private pilot), DJing an occasional night club show or party, playing with the latest tech, and hanging out with my wife and daughter. Though my number one hobby is making more money. I’m a side hustle and startup addict!
See you in Anaheim!
I was excited to meet so many of you last year in Chicago and hang out with friends like Joe, PT, Josh, Shannon, Michelle, Kevin, Ash, Miranda, Jessica, and everyone else (you know who you are), I’m excited to see you again this year in Anaheim!
I just live up the coast a bit in sunny Ventura, California, but I know many of you will be traveling much farther to join us for Podcast Movement in the Bear Republic. Whatever you do, don’t miss Ignite Podcast Movement on the main stage Tuesday night. There just might even be an after party, but you won’t know unless you show up. Check your schedule at Podcast Movement for more details on attending or surf this site to join me on stage. However you Ignite, I’ll see you there!
